It's crazy to look back and realize I've been releasing and writing music steadily for 10 years. It's actually been closer to 15, but the past 10 years have seen the most cohesive presentations of my art to the public. I wrote this post as a guide for those who have never heard my music, as an encyclopedia for industry folks asking about my history, and as I huge thank you for all my past, present, and future fans. It's been a long and strange trip, and the roads been twisted, but I wouldn't change it for the world. To date I've been able to accumulate well over 1,000,000 web impressions, and over 400,000 verified music downloads. Shouts out to my fans in all the far away countries, I'll get to you as soon as I can!!
Lately folks have been asking a lot about my older and unreleased music, and I wanted to give everybody a place to catch up. Not only will it now be easy to download all of my music from this one post, I've also decided as a gift to my fans, to release 6 projects that were previously unavailable online. These 6 projects are demos, street albums, and ep's from my music career between 1999 and 2009. With the retail album "Flight" coming soon, I wanted to show gratitude for your continued support, and what better way than with music. To celebrate more than a decade of music, I have written a brief paragraph about each project. You will find these summaries below the track list of each release. 2011 - This was the third complete project I wrote and produced back in 1999. This was when I had departed the Bay Area, and was residing in Central California. It was a huge growing time for me because I had just gotten confident producing and recording on computers, and I remember this whole project being my first foray into midi as well. I had messed around with the First Edition of Fruity Loops to make a couple prior demo's, but I wanted more control over my songs. LOL because before that I was playing 4 minute tracks from start to finish and bouncing them onto tape through an old 4 track. I was always into computers and saw them becoming the future of music, so this time I used a bit of Fruity Loops combined with an old DJX keyboard, Cubase's prehistoric synths, and finished it all in Cool Edit Pro. I had even found one of the first consumer grade Lexicon audio interfaces for like $100 in some indie electronics store, and was using that to get the vocals & keyboards into the computer. As far as my whole career is concerned, this album has more sampling then I have ever done, and still a majority of it was played by hand. Much of this album was done on the fly, and most of the vocals were done in one take with some freestyle, and some written. As much as I was learning about production around this time, I was also trying to branch out vocally. I was collaborating with artists from both Northern & Southern California, and my music began to take on more variety. I remember listening to a lot of East Coast artists during this period as well. I think that came out in a lot of the song structures and specifically the instrumentals. Sonically I still enjoy this project, and I feel it flows from start to finish.

2011 - By the time I wrote the "Oh My God" project I had relocated down to Los Angeles and had been studying audio engineering religiously. I had 2 years of prior college and personal audio training, and was now a year into a full audio program at the Los Angeles Recording School. Not only was I working during the day on top of the line studio equipment, and soaking in knowledge, but I had also put every dime into remodeling my own production facility. The basics I put together here would become the backbone of CaliFlorida Productions Inc for the next several years. Everything was recorded on a 24 Track Mackie board onto 24 Tracks of ADATS. These were then lightpiped into my first Apple G3 and edited with Digital Performer. I would then stem all the audio back out through the board and master it on an Alesis CD burner. I can honestly say this was one of my favorite, and most impressive setups ever. Nobody had shit at the time like this except for the big guys. I took advantage of what I was learning, and what I had and recorded probably 2-3 beats and a song per day. Being in the Hollywood area I started to get connected to people in the industry, so I tried to make "Oh My God" showcase as much production and lyrical versatility as I could. I wanted to shock people that I was making this kind of stuff by myself in my bedroom, and felt the sound quality could match anything out there. I was starting to write a lot more of my lyrics at this point, and began to think about whole songs and hooks. I was still in my infancy as far as song-writing, but what came out on "Oh My God" is as pure as you can get. This was Antagonist in the early 2000's. A small fish in the big Los Angeles city trying to make an impression on as many people as I could.

2011 - I wrote this project after graduating from Audio School, and spending a year in the seedy underbelly of L.A. trying to make it. These were difficult times, I was broke, working internships at any studio I could, hustling, and trying to get connected. I started working for a large entertainment firm, gained tons of knowledge on how to put out records, but in the end had some absolutely crazy experiences. With all the bullshit going on around me. I was fueled with anger, and it escaped my heart onto this disk. I had realized finally if I wanted to make it in the business, that it was going to have to be on my terms. I also had to leave Cali for several reasons. Although I swore I'd never go, I left almost immediately. I wrote the last third of this album on the road driving from California to Florida, and you can really hear the dark solitude in this album. I remember rhyming to beats, in the middle of nowhere on a snowy mountain road, and I remember yelling my rhymes into canyons in the middle of the New Mexico desert. I finalized all the recording once I got the studio back together in Florida, and it really turned out raw and gritty. Real emotion cannot be faked, it must be captured, and luckily I was in tune enough back then to capture it. The problem was that I felt this album was too dark for the time, and took me to places and memories I was trying to put behind. The only way I could stop these feelings, was to put this album on a shelf and not listen to it for a while. I finally pulled it out again around 2008 and realized at some point my fans had to hear it. I'm at peace now, and I'm glad it can finally happen.

2011- This was the one, the CaliFlorida LP was the project that I felt I finally nailed down how to make a full album. I was finally into living in Florida and had begun to connect with the Southern side of my music that had always been there. The Bay & the South have always had a connection, and I knew that combining the two would enlarge my canvas immensely. Every song was written, and for the first time I was writing what I felt were really solid hooks. I was growing into the melodic side of my music as well, and really started to branch out vocally both singing, and trying different styles. At the time I was living in a small apartment in the hood of Pompano Beach, and all I really had was a couch and my equipment. To this day though, I don't think I've ever had a better in-house room for recording vocals. See most Cali places I had always had hard-wood floors, and most Florida places have had tile. Anybody who knows audio engineering will tell you that those are the two most difficult materials for taming sound reflections. My room in Pompano was non-square, and carpeted, which allowed me to record stuff pretty dry. I was now no longer using the ADATS but recording directly into a MOTU interface into Digital Performer I believe version 3.0. All the vocals were recorded through a Focusrite mic-pre and all of the beats were actually done live from a keyboard. No midi synths or drums were used. Everything came from inside an Alesis 6.1 Keyboard, a Proteus 2500 rack module, and an Alesis DM5 drum module. All the external stuff would go through the Mackie 24 track board then into Digital Performer for Editing. The final master was done on either Sound Forge or Cool Edit Pro/Adobe Audition. I handed this album out to everybody I could on the streets and emailed tracks, but internet music was still pretty new, so I was never able to promote this album as much as I'd like. As time passed it ended up on the shelf like so many others, and I feel it needs to be heard! I think the CaliFlorida LP gives people who are into my music now, a perfect point to see where I stopped making music for myself, and started to make it for the people.

2011 - Between 2003-2007 I had already been making music for 10 years and was starting to get pretty discouraged. I had some small breaks, and gained a bit of attention, but I was nowhere near where I wanted to be. I wasn't doing much work in the audio field, I had a couple serious relationships, and went through what could probably be described as a "growing-up" point in my life. I was still recording music, but my mind was going so many different ways that I couldn't figure out where I wanted to go as an artist. I felt I needed to step up my song-writing & lyrics if I wanted to be just an artist, and I felt I needed to make better beats if I wanted to be a producer. Finally I realized that things would work themselves out, if I just kept it true, and stayed who I was. "When All The Clips Are Empty" is actually a very ironic title when I look back at it now. I was basically sick of fighting everyday trying to force my future. I was tired from all the industry bullshit I had went through, and my relationships had wore on me mentally. Because of all this "When All the Clips Are Empty" takes on an almost chaotic feel. The song structures and topics are all over the place, and most of them have a darker feel. I felt that I was far away from music, and however it may be, I had to get back to it. There's a lot of music that's still in the vault from this period in time, but it's so sporadic I never have been able to put it all together. I'm sure more will surface in the future, but for now this demo was the best representation of me during that period in time.

2011 - Something had to give eventually, and that led into "The Breakup" project in 07. First thing I must address is the "EP" title. It is a full-length project, but I had believed I should save the true LP title for my retail debut, and called it EP to differentiate. Funny I know. Now folks I had come across over the last several years had been bumping my music and everybody told me I had to put something out. I had broken off my latest relationship, got back in the studio and really started writing again. Music on the internet was really taking off, and I began to put songs on various sites. I decided to enter a video contest for "Vibe" magazine, as I had the audio experience but needed some new video footage. I ended up getting into the contest late with only 3 days left to vote, and grabbed a top 5 finish. This gave me a ton of confidence, and gained the attention of a lot of internet and industry folks. I was invited to a large music conference, and I felt I had to have product in hand when I went. I had been through so much bullshit that "The Breakup" honestly formulated itself. It's a blend of both dark introspective songs about life and relationships, weaved through egotistic episodes of braggadocio. What else would you expect from a newly-single, frustrated artist, who was finally told he had would it took to go to the next level. I was ready to infiltrate the streets, the internet, and whatever it took to let the people know who Antagonist was, once and for all. I handed out over 2500 copies of this album as promo throughout South Florida and used it to propel my new promotional strategies. This album in my opinion is where CaliFlorida Productions Inc. became a legitimate independent label, and I was finally taken serious as an artist. I began to get ridiculous attention on the web, and this led to a complete upgrade of my image and an onslaught of music over the next 3 years. Looking back, I think "The Breakup" could have been a lot bigger, but I was still a bit angry, and I think the album came across as a bit too dark. Here I was trying to make a major public debut, but the overall tone ended up being a bit monotonous and somber for a lot of peoples tastes. Yet like most projects, sometimes things settle in, and I've gotten a lot of compliments of this album lately. So instead of letting it disappear and focusing on my artistic life after this transition, I decided to rebrand it, and rerelease it in electronic form.

2011- This was my first major solo mix tape and it was picked up by DJ & Purple Sub out of Germany. I will always appreciate these dudes for recognizing what I had, and giving me the opportunity to make a name for myself in Europe. I have to also thank Biggy Jiggy for making a lot of the early stuff happen for me. At the time I released the CaliFlorida Mixtape it was basically my scratchpad for my new vision of the label and me as an artist. I hooked up with some folks like J-Hood & WMS Sultan, Dump, Stupid Genius, and basically went for broke on this project. I had always believed in marketing grass-roots worldwide and it would flow back to the US, and this album proved it for me. To date this mix tape has been one of my biggest ever moving over 60,000 copies worldwide. People still say to this day that "Money" & "Diamondz & Fame" are their most favorite songs i've ever written.

2011 - DJ Ken is one of the most underground DJ's in the South who puts music out for the love. I saw a lot of people putting out tapes in the South, but Ken was getting props because he wasn't catering to only certain artists. From what I remember he was one of the first dudes breaking artists like Gucci, OJ The Juiceman, and folks like that. I was looking to hook up with a DJ down here, and needed to put out a tape to coincide with the release of "The CaliFlorida Mixtape" in Europe. Ken had an idea to do the whole "Untouchable" thing so he approached me with it, and it was a wrap. He put me on beats with L-Don who recently starting to make a name for himself, and we made a straight down South rider tape. I done 2 tapes with Ken and he was one of the first DJ's in the South to let em know, so dude get's respect from me!

2011 - Blood Diamondz was a fun project. Ken and I had made some moves with "Untouchable" and I figured we might as well stick with the movie theme. People were starting to really take notice of my music from the prior two mix tapes and I was able to get some great collabos from artists and producers on this mix tape. Specifically the "Lost Remix", "Camera Phone", "My Shone", and "The Games Been Good To Me" were sent by industry connects who wanted to see what I could do on the tracks. I felt I hit them all out of the park, so did Ken, and the tape took off quick. The Co-Defendent remix with Plies ended up getting like 20,000 YouTube hits and downloads immediately. This was the first time people from labels started to contact me, and my first major US mix tape.

2011- Every artist has that one project that really does it for them. To this point, the closest thing to that for me would be "International". Not only did it garner the attention of UK Aphilliates DJ Ames, but it also put me on the lips of several industry execs, and made my music worldwide. To date International has done over 150,000 hits worldwide and has had songs played in 200+ countries on 500+ websites. I feel I wrote some of the most personal songs ever on this disk in, "Alone", "Take Me Away", "C'est La Vie", "Crazy", and "My Life". This is the mix tape that started all the buzz for my music, and looking back I feel it was a huge achievement as far as song-writing. I wish some of the songs could have been mixed a bit better, but so is the problem sometimes with mix tapes. I guarantee some of these songs will pop up at some point in a remastered greatest hits collection! "International" is what happens when all I focus on is music. I stopped working "day-jobs" and spent about a year doing nothing but writing songs and promoting myself. A lot of the success I have today comes from the doors I opened during that year. It taught me a lot about the business, networking, building a team, and overall how to make songs the people enjoy.

2011- After the success of International, unfortunately some of the folks involved decided they could use the buzz on their own and jumped ship. I decided to cut all ties and go back to releasing music on my own, the way I wanted, with nobody in my ear. I refuse to let people take credit for my work, and both "Green" and "Walk Hard" were basically middle fingers to anybody who deserted the team. I wanted to prove that I could release projects on my own, and they'd be just as big. At this point DJ Ames was my go-to guy for mix tapes and he held this one down as usual. A majority of this disk was back to being self-produced and I was able to connect with some real colleagues in this game such as Adlib, Cozmo, DJ Swindle, Stupid Genius, Anno Domini, JacoJack, & Frontier. These dudes have held me down from the beginning and it was a blessing that they helped me get this project completed. I think I started taking a lot of risks around recording "International" and this just continued into the "Green" sessions. "When the Lights Go Down" ended up winning "Song of the Day" & "Best Vocals in a Hip Hop Song" on the now defunct GarageBand.com, and my remix of middle eastern pop artist Bezalel's "Tunisia" has been played on radio and in clubs worldwide ever since. I've always liked this disk, but it also feels as a transition between "Walk Hard" & "International". In the Yin & Yang of popular hip hop sound, "International" sits towards the bright side, "Green" plays the middle, and "Walk Hard" leans towards the dark side.

2011 - I To date this is probably my favorite project I've ever written. Block Starz music & YoRaps.com had been behind me due to the moves I made out in Europe, and basically said they'd have my back on my next project. I decided to forego a DJ this time around, and release a street album going back to the Movie Themes from my early material. The movie "Walk Hard" serves as a perfect narrator to this project. The lyrics and beats exude a confidence which showed exactly where I was in my career at that moment. I wanted to try and make an album that would flow from start to finish, and push the boundaries of what I'd accomplished so far as an engineer. I was able to blend industry songs, with my own beats, and things balanced perfect throughout. I think sonically this could be the epitome of my mixing to this point. I didn't try to kill it with a message or get too deep, "Walk Hard" is just pure listening music. I think looking back it was my attempt to show the industry that here I am almost 15 years later, still relevant, adjusting with the times, and still growing. Eventually I want "Walk Hard" to be mixed with a couple unreleased songs from the sessions, to replace the industry beats, then released on iTunes as a retail remastered album. I feel it's worthy of that, and deserves a place in my retail legacy. That could come not long after "Flight" is released.

2011- With the album on the horizon I decided that not only did I need to reconnect with Ames, but that I needed to develop an outlet where I could just spit lyrics. The more attention an artist get's, it seems the more constraining it feels like. I want to please so many people with my music that I felt I began to scrutinize over songs, and write so much, that it wasn't as much fun as it once was. This could kill an artist, so I had to find a solution. I decided that I wanted to start a mix tape series where I could just spit over other peoples beats, not care about hooks per' se, and just have fun. "Feed Me Beats" Vol. 1 was built out of this strategy, and I think it worked out great. Not only was it well-received worldwide, it also re-kindled my fire for the art. I am now about 1/2 way through Feed Me Beats Vol. 2 and this is shaping up to be a very fun series. This project really took a lot of the stress away that had built up over making the album "Flight" and helped me overcome some of the hurdles I had. I thank DJ Ames personally to the end as well, as he's been one of the people that have, and continue to support and believe in my music.
So what comes now?
I'm in 100% control of my company and my material, I have no management team, no yes-men, and no leechers on my team. I'm starting fresh as a completely revamped artist, and I'm 90% finished with my first official retail album.
"Flight" will be available ASAP. I'm looking towards a Nov-Dec 2011 launch. I've spent the best part of 2010/2011 making beats specifically for "Flight" and feel that I've written the best songs of my career. The lyricism and flow on "Flight" is as flawless as I've ever done, and the beats are THE BEST handpicked ideas over thousands of productions.
Furthermore, a TON of music has been written for "Flight" that will not make my strict cut. I'm going to do my best to release as much of it as possible as we get closer to the album's completion. Most likely this will take form in a mixtape called "Pre-Flight Checklist" and/or a series of weekly song releases so be on the lookout for that. Beyond the "Flight" project I have also written a rock-influenced EP, Feed Me Beats Vol. 2, and will be doing a lot of production for up-and-coming artists I respect.
Stay tuned for all the latest releases, and news.
Thanks for all your support, I do it for you!
